Notes on Casino Royal and Hannibal Rising
Hannibal rising:
The opening scence shows two children palying together, who are the children? where are they? The music at the start of the film creates a sense of happiness. Next the sound of gun fire and people running away, why is there gun fire? where is it? the gun fire straight after the happy music shocks the audience. All of the gun fire and people moving away creates a sense of mystery for the audience. Digetic screaming is used, this shocks the audience and makes them fear for the safety of the family the film is following. The mise-en-scene shows the family to have nice clothes and a big house, this gets the audience thinking who they are and are they important and rich? The quick cuts from the family running away to the gun fire and bombs going off sets the tone of fear. When the soilders arrive this creates a scary atmosphere and the way they act towards the other people shocks the audience. With the constant gun fire and explosions happening in the clip it builds up tension as to what is going to happen to the family the audience saw at the start of the film. The dialogue used by the little boy shouting at his sister to go back to house makes the audience fear for the safety of the little girl, this builds up tension as the audience doesn't know what is going to happen to her.
Casino Royal:
The building at the start of the clip gets the audience asking questions such as, whats the buildng used for? where is it? whos inside? The dark set makes the tone mysterious and gets the audience wanting to know more about the old man. Next a man is sat in the chair with a really dark background, this staight away craetes a sense of mystery surrounding the man, who is the man? whats he doing there? The use of editing cuts between the covnersation of the two men and the fight between the younger man and somebody else. This shocks the audience and makes them fear for the safety of the old man.
